ARTRAGE is a progressive art gallery and community performance space. It is a project of the CORA Foundation (Community Outreach and Resources for the Arts). Located in the historic Hawley-Green neighborhood, ARTRAGE will exhibit progressive art that supports social justice, challenges preconceptions, opens minds, inspires resistance and encourages cultural change. Opening in the fall of 2008, we intend to combine visual art, music, dance, film and the written word to exhibit art with a message that goes far beyond “business as usual”; to bring art to Central New York that can be used as a discussion tool and a catalyst for action on the road to social change. A small sampling of planned exhibits include:

  • Combat Papers, IVAW turning military uniforms into paper & anti-war art;
  • Americans Who Tell The Truth; Robert Shetterly’s portraits of American heroes;
  • Iraqi Children’s Art Exchange; using children’s drawings to dispel the myth of the “enemy”;
  • Unseen America; SEIU members photographs of the “other” America;
  • Faces of Diversity; premiere photography exhibit of Lida Suchy’s portraits of the Syracuse Community Choir.
